Wataru Ikusabe (戦部ワタル, Ikusabe Wataru) is the titular protagonist of the Mashin Hero Wataru franchise. An average ordinary elementary schooler in Japan until he was mystically transported to another world as its chosen savior by a yellow dragon as its guardian partner.
Background[]
Wataru Ikusabe is an ordinary bright and cheerful boy who attends Ryujin Elementary while living with his father and mother as a family of three. He usually behaves like most ordinary boys to be energetic with sports and slack off punctuality and studying while staying away with vegetables of choice (onions and konjac), the bad habits that gets on his mother's bad side.[1]. His charming points are his bouncy hair and nose[2] while saying things in his usual quote, "To put it simply....", while rubbing his nose with his fist. But regardless of his habits and "average" grades, he posses a good sense of justice to never back down on the helpless while facing liars and cheaters.
At the beginning of the series, Wataru makes a clay model during arts and crafts period and decorating it with magatamas he found on Ryujin Lake while on his way to school. He was wary of the magatamas at first during to the lake's legends that a dragon will appear, but felt confident to face it after his model was achieved the best which is when an actual dragon appeared and whisked him to another world caled Shinbukai. According to the village folk Wataru landed, he is regarded as the "legendary savior" who divinely saved the world from the great darkness thousands of years ago, until his soul somehow was reincarnated into another world. Wataru was reassured as that person in which the savior's dragon will sense his partner by the bond of the savior's "Ikusabe Clan" blood.

Savior Attire[]
As the chosen hero of Mt. Soukai, he dresses in the formal white and blue attire with red and white shoulder pads, matching color shoulder cuffs, a gold crown tiara, white shoes, and a broad sword in a red sheath.
Personality[]
As a regular grade schooler, Wataru is depicted as the average happy-go-lucky boy who is always bright and cheerful and looking to the positive side of things with ambition. He readily tackles any challenge put forth against him without any care of the odds against him, which can result in the boy's overconfidence that can get him in trouble from those around him. Yet Wataru possesses a strong conscience of justice to never turn his back on those being bullied by the bad guys who lie and cheat, that earns him the respect of his allies and befriending his enemies of the same trust.
